I think there are two things going on - the noise reduction function
is set on but probably not doing anything, and there is some noise
reduction smoothing going on in the image processing; it's not obvious
unless you can look at the files side by side (or unless Moose makes a
rollover demonstration...), but the raw file is way sharper and a bit
grittier.
