Nope. The Leica MD, which is just over half the size of an Oly MD2, takes two
#123 3V. Lithium batteries, which is most convenient, since I already had a box
of 12 Surefires for my tactical flashlights (electric torches to some of you
furriners). And the lithium batteries weigh less: 0.6 oz. each, compared to 0.8
oz for a single AA, and the Leica drive needs only two, while the OM MDs take
four.
And the lithiums have a 10-year shelf life, like I should live that long. :-]
