Another high flown sentiment that sounds great to those with certain
agendas And yet....
There is clear evidence even in the neolithic of long distance trading
of things necessary to survival.
The EcoReality is that there are few places on earth that will sustain
human living long term using only local resources.
And that would have to be a very different life sustaining only a small
fraction of the current population. I'm not saying that either of those
would be good things or bad things, Only that they are a logical
extension of the statement. If your local group can't trade your dried
fish for wool a few hundred miles away, life get tough. Multiply that by
all the other things even a basic agricultural life requires, and things
get mighty tough. Back to the sharpened stick for plowing, eh?
I am saying that those 7+ billion who would have to go won't go easily.
How will you do long term when the ferries stop? And no, you can't
import things from outside your local area, remember?
