As I understand it the IS system used by Olympus in the C-2100UZ was
licensed from another Cano-facturer for a specific number of cameras. That
number was reached, and the license therefore terminated.

I miss mine too. My daughter is still using it to shoot images of her
horses. I have always wondered why Olympus did not expand on it. That
camera has probably the best image stabilization I have ever seen. I have a
Panasonic FZ20 and a Konica Minolta Z5 and neither IS even starts to compare
to the Uzi. Some really great shots have been made with that 2MP camera.

funny how you mention this....one of the best digital cameras EVER was by
olympus..remember the 2100UZ...optical image stabilization, 10x
zoom...wow...most still running...I miss mine
