Exactly what I was going to suggest. If you work with one of your list
friends and they register it, you even have a legitimate, although
inconvenient, warranty in case of disaster.
Since it's already been bought, it's a used camera coming into the US,
so no duty. I wonder if there is a way to recover the VAT, though. And
sending for repair could involve some tricky paperwork.
Anybody live where the E-400 is going to be sold AND taxes and duties
aren't large?

At least the choice there is easy. Only two alternatives and one costs
the earth, is huge and could work as a small boat anchor. And your 21 mm
will work great on either.
