Just another brief comment. I need a fast lens to be able to focus in
low light but I rarely take photos at or near maximum aperture. I think
the ZD lenses probably perform better at wide apertures than lenses of
the past but any lens will have better optical performance at its middle
apertures than at either of the extremes.
Choosing a lens so that you can actually take a photo at f/2.8 is a
different consideration than my use. I'd probably up the ISO several
notches before opening the aperture but that's something that will
likely kick off a whole separate discussion.
