This is off topic other than its a slide scanner and I will scan olympus shoots with it. Anyway the story... I want a good quality scanner for both 35mm slides and medium format with the demise of the multi scan pro it looks like a Nikno coolscan 9000ed. In the uk the cheapest price I could find was a rather high 1800+ pounds but they never seemed to have one in stock. The only places with stock where asking 2000 pounds+ I took a look at KEH in the USA - 1800 dollars around 1100 pounds. Why the huge difference? I checked with customs in the uk there is NO duty charge because it is considerred a computer attachment.... I try to buy one from KEH. KEH says that if they sell one to the uk Nikon! will stop supplying them any gear at all. Surely this is illegal? KEH say that they can ship it to a USA address and if that address ships it to me no problem but they can not send me one directly. GGGGRRRRRrrrr.... Is this the distributor in the USA causing a problem or is Nikon deliberatly trying to rip off the uk and probably Europe to? I am now in hong kong again teaching. I try three camera shops in Stanley street (well known for its camera shops)... EXACTLY same price from each one - 1500 pounds (19000 HKD). But none in stock and the distributor has not got one because they don't sell enough to justify having one in stock... ============================================== List usage info: http://www.zuikoholic.com List nannies: olympusadmin@xxxxxxxxxx ============================================== |
