Assuming no malware, definitely a hardware issue. Since you
say this is a fairly new machine, age is probably not the issue
and could be anything. Some newer MB will reset the bios if
they detect a failure, assuming that the user attempted to over
clock too much and will roll back the bios settings. Not sure this
would also reset the clock.
It could be a lot of things, any where from a mounting screw
shorting the MB to ground, bad memory, or just plane bad board.
I can't imagine running on win 95 these days. Software corrodes
over time - known as software rust.
