Yes! which is the point I was trying to make and was why I would be hesitant
to say "Any $300 machine from DELL will do fine with PS". A new computer
isn't always better. Whether it is good enough depends quite a bit on the
user etc. Personally I'm still happy with the 4550 but a little
dissappointed with the 2400 (which does a fine job 95% of the time).
The 4550 required a new card to support disks over 120G, doesn't have SATA
drive support, and it doesn't have a DVI capable video card (LCDs seem to be
moving to DVI). Whether every new $300 Dell computer has those, I don't
know.
The two new Dell XPS machines I ordered and helped set up for other people
were very impressive. I think I could enjoy te 24" LCD also ... if I had the
opportunity to get accustomed to it ;-)

The 4550 (which I own) was the middle range machine with lots of expansion.
The 2400 (which I also own) is the entry level loss leader. No video card
slot; minimal expansion; cheaper, slower components.
Kind of like saying "my 20 year old Maserati runs rings around my 2 year old
Hyundai"
