I suspect that it was either more expensive or more difficult to
make reasonable 28mm or wider at the time. Certainly, most people
were quite satisfied with a 35mm wide, 50 standard/all purpose and an
80-90mm telephoto/portrait. Now we're just spoilt for choice but are
we taking better pics? Hmmmm.
The cost of even elderly Leica lenses will force me to be more
restrained - anything under 24mm requires a second mortgage!
