Really? You liked the shutter speed up on top of the body? I always
thought that was about the clumsiest way to deal with shutter speed. It
means you pretty much have to take the camera away from your eye to
mess with it. I always loved the shutter speed ring on the OM series
and the slight "gearing" feel or whatever you'd call it when you cross
the 1/60th threshold lets me adjust without dipping into speeds too low
to hand-hold easily. I always thought it was about as perfect a
solution to camera ergonomics as anyone has ever come up with. Focus,
aperture and shutter speed all under the fingers of your left hand all
the time so you can keep your right index finger on the shutter
release.
