Wouldn't recommend it for looking at the sun, the fact that it is relatively
transparent to IR and opaque to visible light means that it can do
significant damage to your retina before you realise it.
Use it for IR photography !
Kodak HIE is probably the best for the 900+ nm that it transmits.
