Seems awfully pricy for an intentionally cheap lens design. You could
look around for an old Sima or Spiratone soft focus lens, or make your
own <http://medfmt.8k.com/mf/soft.html>! Here are some samples from a
Sima <http://galleries.moosemystic.net/SIMA/index.htm> I bought for less
than $15, including shipping. The Sima is just a simple sliding tube
design with a single double convex, uncoated lens The only trick
compared to the homebrew instructions for a sliding tube desing is that
the front tube extends far in front of the lens element, acting as a
hood and setting the waterhouse stops about 3.75 inches in front of the
lens element.
You can also do all that sort of effect in image editors like PS.
