Absolutely right about the PR, Andrew (don't know about the date). It's the
Bolshoi Teatr where the ballet company performs, and as you rightly assume,
if there's a big 'un, there must also be a litl'un. The Maly Teatr (the
oldest in Russia) fills that 'lexical' role, and is located beside the
Bolshoi. The map here http://www.bolshoi.ru/eng/map.shtml shows them both
on Theatre Square - better known to many as Marx Square. Shall we reminisce
about the old days?

As in Bolshoi Ballet (is there a Menshoi?). It was a nice piece of PR as
when the Russian revolutionary socialist party split (1903?), the Bolsheviks
under Lenin were actually in the minority, the smaller group. Their ideas
were bigger though.
