Most warranties are to the original retail purchaser only and are not
transferable. Even if someone was to purchase a camera or lens, never
use it and then sell it, the new buyer would not have a warranty. As Joe
has pointed out it is that retail purchase that allows one to have a
warranty. Most stuff off of eBay, new or otherwise, will not have a
manufacturers warranty. There are some exceptions to this as some
dealerships do sell on eBay as do manufacturers like Olympus. I do
wonder what your warranty remedy on OM equipment would be these days, as
it is no longer manufactured, and in some cases Olympus no longer
repairs the items.
