Although I haven't put it to any test, it seems that digital doesn't have
the same latitude as film, although it does seem to handle shadow detail
better than slide film, but is prone to blow out highlights. Something I
read recently showed that digital has a very flat cut off on over exposure.

So, with digital (much like slide film) it is best to expose for the
highlights. With digital, it is quite easy to manipulate and improve the
shadow detail.

I still go back and forth, but I'm liking digital more and more all the
time!

I don't know what you mean by that. Are you saying there's not much latitude

in taking your shot? That it's difficult to compensate? If so, I'd have to
disagree. I see the same control over the image I'm taking with regard to
film
SLR and digital SLR. maybe a digital P&S doesn't give you much control, but
the
BIG advantage digital has, is you can correct the image with software after
you take it to get just about whatever improvement you think it needs. With
a
slide, you're stuck with whatever exposure choice you made at the time of
taking
the shot. Unless you scan the slide and try to improve it digitally.
