Sounds like the rewind shaft isn't going up far enough, 1/8" seems a little
on the short side. You should be feeling the resistance of the spring once
the indented ring on the shaft is visible. Try pushing on the back cover
as you lift the rewind knob up. That might relieve some pressure on the
latch and make it easier to lift up.
