Envy the Racoons - we have Brushtail Possums - they are heavier, live
IN the roof and while they don't carry rabies (unknown here thank
gawd but the big fruit bats carry a related lyssavirus) they aren't
bright enough to get tame. Very noisy though and the babe rides
cutely on the back when it leaves the pouch. Sitting watching TV the
other afternoon (World Cup Rugby) and got wet when one peed in the
ceiling and it ran down through the lining boards. Now the wife
insists I move them out. How? Reason with them?
How serious is the rabies problem? Andrew And on another note -- we don't have otters, but we have raccoons that climb up on our deck and romp on the roof in the middle of the night. Because they sometimes have rabies, we know we're notsupposed to encourage them by feeding them, but we do it anyway. When the mothers bring their babies, who look like living plushtoys, they are just too cute to resist, even when they squeal and wrestle on the roof right above our bedroom at 3:00 a.m. So goes life in the woods. :-) Walt +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us." -- Hobbes < This message was delivered via the Olympus Mailing List > < For questions, mailto:owner-olympus@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > < Web Page: http://Zuiko.sls.bc.ca/swright/olympuslist.html > |
