Well, one thing I've discovered is that there are a number of software
programs out there that pretty much eliminate the noise issue....and I
prefer the handling of the E-1 - as well as the size and weight of the
lenses - to that of the 10-D.

You should get a 10D, it is cheaper and has much lower noise level.
