Firstly, welcome to the list.  
The way you couch your question renders it almost impossible to answer.
Owing to the age of the cameras we're talking about, there's a certain
inclination to failure out of the gate.  Things electronic can only contain
the magical smoke so long (we all know that it's the smoke that makes them
work, 'cause when the smoke escapes, they quit working), and they give up. 

That being said, there's no reason to consider a currently functional OM-4
'in decent shape that hasn't been abused' any more or less likely to fail
than any other like ilk camera of the same age.   

IMHO a currently working OM-4 would be a fine idea.  Obviously, a 4t or
upgraded 4 would be better.

Does your question mean that you're eyeing one with a mind to buy?
