Adding to the confusion:
Denaturated alcohol in Norway is 90-96 0.000000e+00thanol + 2-50f isopropanol and
2-5%
metylisobutylketon, wich makes it undrinkable, but not toxic. Methanol does
not contain ethanol, it is another type of alcohol. It is very toxic, can
make you go blind or even die. If you drink it. Methylated alcohols are
mixtures of ethanol and methanol, and might be called denaturated alcohol
in US and UK. More information:

As far as I know, denatured alcohol is the product called methylated
spirits in the UK; someone correct me if I am wrong...

Thanks for all the replies. I'd been trying chemists in the UK, btw. I
know where to go now.

The isopropyl you buy at the drugstore is dilute, it probably won't

the camera but it doesn't dissolve adhesive as well as denatured. Any
decent hardware store or home center should have denatured alcohol.

I'm having real trouble finding denatured alcohol to clean off gunk
from old light seals. Would isopropyl be ok, or am I going to strip
paint and generally melt things with it?
THanks,
