another VERY effective degreaser is TCE, or trichlorethylene, and especially if
warmed up. Likely no longer available except for controlled industrial
purposes. Once bought a litre bottle from a photo store in Vancouver but the
moving company politely declined to load it into the van for the cross country
move ......... said it was a hazardous chemical! Pity; I can't any more!

The MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) is bad stuff, too. Nerve cell/nervous system
damage. A potential carcinogen. Used a lot to clean aerospace parts. A
great cleaner/degreaser, but don't sniff.
