My 0.02 worth is to find some Ronsonol or Zippo lighter fluid. A little bit
on a cotton swab will emulsify and lift off all the old
gunk/adhesive/what-have-you without being injurious to the paint or plastic.
I've tried just about everything (alcohol, orange-off, commercial adhesive
removers) and keep coming back to Ronsonol. Plus, it's relatively
inexpensive, and available just about everywhere.

Subject: [OM] ethyl or isopropyl
I'm having real trouble finding denatured alcohol to clean off gunk
from old light seals. Would isopropyl be ok, or am I going to strip
paint and generally melt things with it?
THanks,
James
