Haven't tried it before but it's easy to test a 1-5. Yes the microprisms
darken as the lens is shifted. A surprising aspect is that as you shift
the lens upward it won't darken as quickly if you also shift your eye
upward. Eventually you run out of viewfinder window and the microprisms
darken. Both the 24 and 35 behave very similarly.
Interesting test.
