I'd like to add a recommendation for the Acratech Ball Head. It's an
especially light head with built on Arca Swiss style quick release plate and
weights less than 1 pound. See url: http://www.acratech.net/PRODUCTS.HTM for
details and reviews. The AS B1 itself, is too heavy for much hiking, travel
or urban use. I use mine with the Bogen Carbon Fiber 1 4 section tripod or
the Gitzo 1127CF.
