I'm sure it'll be a fabulous trip! I visited Costa Rica three years ago
and loved the place. The heat and humidity would depend on what time of
year you're going, and where. Valle Central is high up, and so not
overwhelmingly hot or humid, and the rainy season is roughly
May-October. The coasts are very hot, and the Caribbean side has huge
amounts of rain all year round. Guanacaste in the north-east has a
drier climate than the rest of the country. The rainforests and
cloudforests are obviously prime spots for humidity!
I was there in September-October, the height of the rainy season, and my
OM-1n and lenses all survived very happily with a little sachet of
silica gel each. I didn't take any special measures to protect my film
from the heat, but it survived absolutely fine. Couldn't be sure about
a digicam - might be more sensitive to climate than a rugged OM body.

My Costa Rica trip planned for last year has finally materialized. It is
reputed to be hot, steamy and rainy and although I have my OM1n along
for insurance I would like to use my little digicam. None of these
things are even weatherized. Any advice on keeping these little
electronic whiz bangs dry and functioning?
