The warning is likely due to Olympus' concern that the auto-diaphragm mechanism
will have to work too hard to close all those linkages that you will introduce
with tubes.
That said, I've used my Auto-Tube and 1, 2, or 3 extension tubes with great
success. Maybe I'm bad?
I say as long as you don't do it every day, it would be OK. The alternative is
a bellows.
