I have a solution to the wind/swaying bag issue. I have never been
happy with the suspended bag, as it seems like it is ALWAYS swinging,

blowing. In addition when I am backpacking, my pack is WAY to heavy to
suspend from my light tripod.
what I do is carry a nylon strap with a laddr buckle. the pack is set
on the ground underneath the tripod. the strap is attached to the
pack, wrapped around the base of the tripd head (around the center
column) and pulled so that it creates downward tension on the tripod.
Try it and I think you will be amazed at how stable a 'flimsy' tripod
can be.

Sounds like a good use for a bungee cord.
