The airplane is a Stearman made by Boeing. The paint scheme is the
correct one for a US Navy trainer. IT was used in WW II as a primary
trainer by the US Army as the PT-13 and PT-17 and by the Navy as the
N2S. The Canadians called it the Kaydet. It was basically the same
airplane for all the services. Dual controls were standard, after all
what good is a trainer if the instructor can't get the instructee into
and out of trouble. The Cadet flew in the front seat and the instructor
in the back and they communicated by a speaking tube intercom. Try this
site for more info.
