I haven't been to the Four Corners area yet myself, but in general, once
school starts (it has), the number of tourists drops off dramatically, and
the popular spots are quieter and "roomier". More rooms available, more
transportation options, etc., with the obvious exceptions of the rim/road
closures and caveats mentioned.
