I keep hearing this. (First heard from the sales guy I bought my E-10 from
who was trying to sell me every accessory under the sun--hence my initially
tainted viewpoint on the topic.) I don't find connecting the camera to the
computer to be a pain at all. Hook up USB cable, select the communicate icon
on the camera, and turn it on. A drive (the camera) is mounted and
a-transferring we will go. Has worked fine for me so far. On older OS
machines you sometimes need to install some USB stuff, but on Mac OS 9.1 and
Win 98 and later it is not a problem.
However, I am curious. Are the card readers really significantly faster? It
does take a fair bit of time to dump a 256 CF card via the camera (a few
minutes) but then it takes a fair bit of time to move 256mb of data via USB
(I) anyway, right? Has anyone timed the difference?
