Skip, I've been doing the same thing. The difference is not in the
actual photography but in the $$$ it takes to get there. For example,
how does an 85/2 + tubes compare with the 90/2? What does that extra
$600 really buy? Or a better example might be the 135/2.8 + tubes vs the
135/4.5. For someone on a budget this could mean significant amounts of
cash. (that could be spent on an 18/3.5 or a 24mm shift or a....)
