Ansel Adams: _The_Camera_, Chapter 5, "Lens Extension" Section
Remember when you read this section that he is discussing it from the
perspective of a technical view camera (large format rig) on which the lens
is mounted to a lens board which approximates the location of the rear lens
node. On technical view cameras, the bellows extension when the lens is
focused at infinity is the lens' focal length! For cameras such as the
OM's, one must add the lens focal length to the length of extension tube(s)
used to arrive at total extension from film plane to rear lens node.
