The problem is that Olympus did not get on the autofocus bandwagon,
so they probably see the need for a new lens system no matter what.

That is true, but I would bet that Contax/Kyocera sells fewer units
over all than Olympus, and manages to maintain both a manual and
autofocus systems, as well as rangefinder and slr. Of course they
have established a reputation for quality that makes it worth the
price. Ironically all but one of their cameras is cheaper than OM4Ti.
Olympus has not done a great marketing job and has become a cult
item.
