Crowding camera/lens, hand, wrist, shoulder and head against any post, pole,
rail or wall corner edge buffered with a hat, glove etc might help. As a
sweater, jacket, or hat over a wall, ledge or other horizontal surface.
Perseverence in developing technique ought to yield some good results when
handholding long lenses or shooting in low light etc. Make that camera float
- and squeeeeeeeeeze the shutter. Holding too tight will increase the shakes
- moderate grip is steadier (use strap or wrist strap/cord for security).
Shutter release timed during a normal-breathing "pause" will help too.
Cheers,
Lee

in the end, it boils down to three important things:
1 how large you will be viewing the slide or printing the negative
2 how far the subject is from you
3 how steady you can get. for noncritical (meaning you won't be blowing the
prints up to poster size), your stability is what determines the outcome. I
can snap off decent shots at 1/60, or 1/30 if i
really try hard.
following shots taken with OM1n, 200/4 at 1/60sec (Xsynch; T32 for
fillflash) handheld with no other stabilization
