Buggy whips are really cool too.
I am pretty sure people found other use for it now. :-)
And every young person should study
horsemanship before using an automobile. :-)
That's stretching it a bit. I'd settle for learning when to use the fog
lights (950f Sydney drivers fail there). :-) And manual gearbox. I
think that'd be the closer analogy in the car world: auto vs manual. :-)
It's also called the "slippery slope" fallacy. Doesn't "wash" in
formal argument (IOW it's an unacceptable practice in debates).

Since this started out on the idea of advice to a young person
starting out in photography and most of the advice has been to buy
old stuff that is rapidly being replaced by new technology I am
beginning to understand the old slogan of the 60's not to trust
anyone over 30. Like AgSchnozz I did not start out with antique
cameras either. Let me see, since many have recommended OM1s which
came out in 1974, 30 years ago, I would have received equivalent
advice in my 20's to buy a Kodak folder. No thank you.
Again AgSchnozz is right. We are like Dead Heads. New stuff. Bah humbug.
:-)
