Arnab
I lived in Alipore, on Alipore Road, as I remember - about 1970-71.
I used to race around on a little Honda 65 motorbike during the day,
and in my father's Ambassador car at night up and down the Red Road.
I am a responsible chap now... ;-).
On the photographic front, I used my Mother's Minox B, the film of
which I developed myself and which I still have somewhere.
For scanners, you should be able to get hold of secondhand film
scanners at a reasonable price; I am sure that people are selling
their Nikon LS3s cheaply to buy LSIVs. Similarly with Minolta Dimage
Scan Duals (2400 dpi, SCSI interface): I sold mine for a pittance to
buy a Scan Elite (2820, SCSI). But I am not sure what the import or
currency controls are like these days, so it might be too difficult
for you to get one into the country.
... your scanned pics are pretty good then for the hybrid system you
seem to have been using...
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris
Thanks for your reply.
Small world it seems. Where did you live in Calcutta? You should visit the
Himalayas some time.
Thank you for your advise on the photoes. My self photo was taken with a
Yashica Range finder that was balancing on a rock on timer :-)). I normally
don't crop after scanning. Numerous scanners were used and that is the
probable reason for the difference in colour saturation(although some were a
bit dull to start with). Some day I will get my own scanner :-)) Some are
very grainy due to low scanning quality. They were all scanned from 6X4
prints.
I wish to start on transparency soon with high hopes.
