Hi all,

I am from Calcutta, India.
Relatively new to photography, I used a Yashica Range Finder for around
three years.
I take photographs mostly in the Himalayas. I need to keep both hands free
and hence I have always used a shoulder strap as well as a waist pouch to
hold the camera incase of rain. I keep the strap short and the left arm
through it to keep the camera close to my body but slack enough to bring it
upto the eye, almost same as the suggestion in the mail below.

After the Range Finder started showing signs of refusing to co-operate I was
looking for a manual 35mm SLR .
Having used a borrowed OM-1 for a few days and I was in love. In India the
Olympus used market is not very active and keeping constant touch with the
dealers might yield results. I did not get any decent deal on any used
manual SLR of any make. There are not too many new 35mm manual SLRs in the
market to choose from either.

I have finally settled for an OM2000(good independent re-views all over the
net) although it is widely reported to be manufactured by Cosina under
license. I am on the lookout for OM-1 and OM-2 bodies though. It comes with
a 35(3.5)-70(4.6) S-Zuiko. I have exposed a few rolls and things seem to be
good.
Then I came across this mailing list and was fascinated by the number of
"Zuikoholics".
I am currently on the lookout for a 200mm tele or 80-210 zoom. Zuiko glass
is not common here so the next choice is to get some from abroad.

May I have some suggestions and ideas about third party manufacturers for
the OM mount. Specially interested in the Tamron Adaptall II mount converter
and lenses. Is there anything that I should know about this converter(pros,
cons, general info).
Thank you all in advance anticipating help

I would like to share some of my photographs. They can be viewed at
http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/deep_cal/lst?.dir=/Holidays Comments and
suggestions will be highly appreciated.
The folder marked Chilka has photoes taken using the OM2000.
The folder GosainKund has photos taken with an OM1.
The RoopKund folder contains Range Finder results.

Have a nice day.
Arnab
