Hi Mike, I have a setup of a Tamron 400 f6.3 tmount and 2x convertor that cost me AUS $20.00. The 400 had some haze on one of the elements but this lens is very simple and was not dificult to pull apart and clean. Although the element did not clean up perfectly I am still able to get results like this even with cheap 200 print film. http://home.iprimus.com.au/boldbolty/pages/Nic%20Surfing17.htm This one is the 400 + 2x http://home.iprimus.com.au/boldbolty/pages/Nic%20Surfing6.htm This one is just the 400 I think if you can find one of these lenses in good condition you should get very reasonable results.
