Dear all,
Wondered if I might tap once more into the vast knowledge of list
subscribers? A friend of mine who is extremely artistically talented
is looking to buy a digital camera, which she would mainly use for
photographing her works of art and putting images of them on a web site
(with a view to generating interest and sales). Her art consists of
mosaics and also paintings on glass - plates, drinking glasses etc
etc. She can spend up to GBP600 on a camera, and is looking around for
the best option. I wondered if you might have any recommendations?
Many thanks,

if all that is required is pictures for the web then as has been
suggested already a relatively cheap 1.3 megapixel camera may suffice.
But I bet your friend wouldn't be happy staying with that for long. I
have a Canon G2 (it's in the price range you specify) and produces some
extremely good images. It got me taking pictures again and although I
prefer my OM2spot for 'proper' pictures I have found the G2 to be a real
boon. There are some shots I simple would not have without it - though
perhaps I'd have got them with a wonderbrick, my reactions aren't what
they were. It feels like a camera too.
Cheers
