Right, I forgot to mention that option in my far from complete list of
possibilities. I've used the simple ones, but seldom. I just bought the
Oly achromatic 49mm version made for the first couple of IS cameras,
but haven't tried it yet. It would work on the 135/3.5.
DOF is no better or worse with these than any other method. It depends
on f-stop and magnification, no matter how you get there. I have the
single element ones in 49 and 67mm, but not 55mm for the 135/2.8 and
200/4 or 72mm for the 300/4.5.
