Hi Dan,
The Vivitar 24mm F2.0 was first sold around 1979. I've got a 1979 Vivitar
catalog that lists the lens as new. It is multi coated, focuses the same
direction as Zuikos, and uses 55 mm filters. The Zuiko 24 F2.0 lens hood
works great with it. The lens also has a floating element for CFC. I bought
one from Paul VanTuyl(aka The Olympus Guy) ten years ago. It's a great lens.
I think I paid the same for the Oly 24F2.0 hood as I did for the lens. I've
noticed a little one sided flair when shooting into the sun, but no other
problems. This lens was also featured along with 23 others in a June 1991
Popular Photography article on "fascinating, discontinued lenses". It was
also tested by Modern Photography with excellent results. I think it's a
great buy.
