Alternatively, if you've been to neither before, Oxford is less spread out
than Cambridge, which may or may not make a difference. (you can still
wander further afield if you like, it's just that the colleges seem to be
closer to one another in Oxford)
Also, Oxford's easier to get to; the train station in Cambridge is further
out than that in Oxford, and while the coach stations are both pretty
central, there's coaches to Oxford every 10 minutes, but only every hour or
so to Cambridge and they tend to be full.
