Thanks for the great info.
One other question, if I may. What size rubber lens ring tool fits the
standard Zuiko lenses with 49mm front threads? Looking in the Microtools
catalog, I'm not sure which one to get. Wellll... 2 related questions.
How about lenses like the 28/2, where the bulge of the front of the lens
would get in the way of using a rubber lens ring tool? My Spanner wrench
won't reach down into those tiny square holes and none of the others
look like they will either.
Thanks

Were you referring to the Wind Lever or the Rewind Crank when talking
about generating enough torque. There is a machined lip in the Rewind
Crank wrench such that it can generate more torque than you might
imagine. The Wind Lever tool has a hex body, so greater torque than the
camera or the tool pins could withstand is possible with a wrench.
I was referring to the wind lever cap when talking about it being potentially
difficult to remove. Olympus had a similar tool but it had a handle which
was 90 degrees to the pins (ie. the handle was parallel to the wind lever).
Unfortunately it too damaged the trim plate, but from Olympus's point of
view it didn't matter since the trim plate is replaced anyways. Of course
nowdays trim plates are about as rare as MD covers so it's best not to damage
them.
