Well I probably should be careful when using the
word "first", because every camera company boasts they
were the first at something or another. I believe even
Pentax boasted at one time, they were the 1st camera
company to produce the 1st auto-focus with flash. How
about that one.
In 1985 - the Minolta Dynax 7000 camera was the camera
that launched the auto-focus (AF) single-lens reflex
camera technology, I know Nikon was also pretty close
behind.
Nikon is still the only company making the older style
specialized camera system accessories. And, I believe a
lot of there lenses are still interchangeable, with one
another.
