Hi,
to the owners of both the above flashguns
I have T-32's and a 40MZ-3i. Since the 45CL4 is a "potato masher" a better
comparison would be with the T-45, or with a T-32 in a BG-2.
2. Does the Metz with dedicated SCA module compare with the T32 in
performance?
A Metz with the SCA-321 module behaves exactly the same as a T-32,
including on an OM-2S with "green" LED powered by the camera cells. Flash
ready, sufficient exposure blinking, etc., all work just as if it were a
T-series flash.
3. Ease of use of both?
I can't speak about the 45CL4 directly, but believe it is similar to having
an MZ40-3i in a Metz G16 flash handle. That combination is almost
identical in handling as a T-32 in a BG-2 (tilt and swivel are in the flash
head, not the handle).
Practical application using direct flash isn't much different although the
controls are different. The Metz has more flexibility with aperture
selection in the equivalent of the T-series "Normal Auto" mode (using the
thyristor control in the flash instead of TTL). It also has the secondary
flash tube which is very nice for a small amount of direct fill when using
bounce.
