Ok, reality check time! The OM-4T is such a perfect camera that
there isn't room for improvement? You're right. We don't need:
-TRUE flash sync speeds faster than 1/60.
-Aperture in the viewfinder information.
-Fill-flash ratio control.
-1 second mirror pre-fire.
-Program modes.
-Auto film loading.
-Auto ISO detection.
-Infrared remote control.
-Autofocus.
-Matrix metering.
-High-point viewfinders.
-Manual shutter speeds slower than one second.
Shall I go on?
Don't kid yourself. If Olympus made an OM-5 we would have
bought it. After all, how many of us have OM-4(t,ti) bodies
even though we have the ultimately perfect OM-2(md,n,s)?
Would Olympus have recaptured the photojournalism/sports crowd?
Nope. Too little, too late. That game is over. Nikon and
Canon won that battle even when Olympus was at its heyday in the
'70s.
Olympus has gone for the "masses". The manufacturer's profit
margin isn't much greater for a $3000 camera than a $300 camera.
But they can sell 1000x the $300 cameras.
