Hi OM'ers,
Following is an email I got from Gary Reese; I am taking him up on
his willingness to post it on the OM site. He has since been very
helpful with supplying sales data on three lenses I have been interested
in obtaining. Any comments?

This was forwarded to me by someone who knows I have the information you
seek:
<< But where do you go to find data on, say, a 400mm Vivitar or Tokina,
or a 300mm f2.8 Tamron, lens that's on eBay? >>
No "good Samaritan" has put up this data, last I looked. I've personally
compiled it for use in my eBay auctions. It comes from old marketing
brochures, lens tests in the print media, lens data sheets, etc. Lots
of hard work and timely purchases of literature.
<< Does anyone have a site, like Skip Williams has for Olympus, on
prices that these three manufacturers' lenses have brought on eBay? I
saw a 400mm Vivitar in OM mount go on eBay on Monday for $125; another
example on Tuesday went for $285. Anyone know what the one year average
is? >>
I have the data for all OM mount sales of generic lenses worth over
US$50. It goes back 4 years. I'm unconvienced that enough people are
willing to pay for good data, so it's getting statistically crunched on
a time available basis. What I do with it is still up in the air.
Feel free to post this response on the OM List.
Gary Reese
