My girlfriend is putting her purloined (from me) OM-4 to use, trying to
photograph some small jewelry items. Here's the setup:
OM-4 with 65-165 Telescoping tube and 135/4.5. Flash is from T-28 Twin unit.
The chart says that for the T-28 with this lens/tube in MANUAL high-power
mode on the T-28, the exposure is 1.6 feet at F45 and ASA100. However, we're
getting a consistent UNDER reading using TTL flash mode at only F22 with
ASA200 film.
We're almost dead on at 1.6 feet from her subject, and I suspect the
background is what's causing trouble. It's a jet black piece of velvet.
Anyone have any suggestions? Are we truly underexposing? Or are we likely to
be over-exposing the actual subject and getting an UNDER reading due to the
dark background.
