I recently acquired a Vivitar Series 1 90mm f2.5 w/1:1 adapter in mint
condition off eBay...Its a heavy, solidly built lens that I've heard very
good reports on...Unfortunately I have'nt had a chance to give it trial
run... I hope its as good as its reputation...Probably no where near the OM
90mm f2.0 in performance, but considerably less outlay...Anyway to find out
who the manufacturer was? Marty

The 35-85mm series one is one of the older ones, therefore much better than
newer Series one models. Like you say, it is a superb lens, along with the
28-90mm f2.8 series one.
You'd be better off with the Samyang 18-28mm, as the vivitar is really just
a Cosina. New Series one lenses are simply not made to the earlier
standards.

(28/2.8, 35-70/3.5-4.5, 50/1.4 SC, and maybe also the 85/2). And it cost me
just 100 USD or so!
